Overview
It’s an application prepared to work with OS/400 and i5/OS operative systems, normally attached to the family of computers AS/400, iSeries 400 and eServer i5. Its purpose is to achieve the maximum interactive performance in those servers where interactive consume is limited, in a way it cannot dispose of the total capacity of the respective machine. Performance is measured by the number of times that a specific type of instructions is executed per second. This number is known as the CPW rate and it allows us to establish comparisons between different AS/400 models. This rate can make reference to the capacity of interactive type instructions execution , Interactive CPW, or, to the capacity of any kind of instructions (interactive, batch and others) execution, making up the Total CPW. For example, a 720-206A model has a 35 Interactive CPW while its Total CPW is 240. With GoFaster, Interactive CPW ranks itself to the same level as Total CPW, which in most cases means a many times increase on its original value. In the previous example, the increase on Interactive CPW is 7 times the contracted CPW. Increasing this value via hardware expansions involves: substitution of interactive cards; change of processor and/or change of model. This means a progression of the Software Group, which at the same time has repercussions on the maintenance costs of contracted and own software, as well as updating its price. For example, in the case above mentioned, to get an increase from 35 to 240 on interactive CPW for a 720-206A model, it is absolutely necessary to change the processor 2061 for a 2062, but then the Total CPW would be 420, which would imply a change from a P10 Software Group to a P20 Group. |
